Yes i was very much broken, threw up on the way home and everything, not sure why, dehydrated or possibly low sugar level, or just over excertion.
Feeling so much better today though.

Nice work, I imagine the nausea was dehydration. I think its what gets most people really, I find it difficult to drink enough on long days like this. Just need to remember to do lots of stretching and drink loads over the next few days!

I had planned on doing the 100km one this year but an injury forced me to take 2 months out. Looks as though its a fairly flat-ish course though so I may try and go do this one weekend.

I don't suppose you have an electronic copy of the route at all do you for the 50km? If so, could I be cheeky and nab a copy? :)

Yeah, ill dig it out, got one somewhere, give me a few hours.

For some reason I'm a bit hyped up and considering booking up a 100k one. Maybe not that one though as its a bit close to Kili climb.

So how would you guys carry on the training from a 50k to do a 100k walk. Pretty sure I'll do london to brighton which is at end of may, purly as its earlier in the year, leaving more time for mountain climbing before Kili in october.

What was your training like for the 50k? I'm doing the 100k L2B in June and have started running 4 times a week with 2-3 cross training sessions. After a few months and I've built my base fitness up, I plan to drop one of the XC sessions and put in two long runs every other weekend. I'll slowly build that up to the 25-35mile point I think.

From what I've read, its quite common to try and do back to back long runs on weekends, they get your legs used to moving when tired and there's another whole piece on the body working on low glycogen stores over those longer days as well. There's quite a few ultramarathon guides out there that are worth reading.

Hah :)

Well the only thing I'd do would be to drop one of the 6milers every over week and try sticking another longer walk the day after the 20-25miler. Maybe start at the 10-15 mile and slowly up that to 15-20 followed by the 20-25 the next day

I can tell you from experience, there is absolutely no need to look for a training plan for a 50k walk, I'm 14 and I've done it before with cadets, we get fully suited up with 30 gallon packs and 2 litre hydration packs.

The only thing you need is determination.... seriously

The only thing you need to plan for is your footware. After the first 30k you will start feeling the pain from the hot spots and blisters.

But realistically there is no need for planning
