Hello, so I have been overclocking my Asus GTX560 Ti and am slowly getting my Q6600 more and more stable @ 3.6Ghz.

So today I thought I would have a little fun on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, one of my long loved games, I had MSI Afterburner running in the back ground but had it opened up on my other monitor. Average was about 160-180 FPS but it would spike up to 200 and 300 every so often, MSI Afterburner reported a Max of 516 FPS.

I had all settings at max detail and still got these huge framrates, however I did notice it was a little glitchy, especially when I initially loaded the game, my HDD was going like mad I could hear it spinning and clicking away, is the glitchyness from the HDD not loading quick enough? or maybe a driver fault, GPU usage was up and down more than usuall too.

Is 500 odd FPS too much for what my monitor can show, is this normal to get this amount of FPS also any software to limit to say 60FPS to take some strain off GPU

Latest Driver 285.XX

u can limit FPS using MSI afterburner Beta 11 - see this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18360071&highlight=username_creed

People have reported this makes gameplay smoother and works better than vsync.

This

My card gives me random frame drops when in menus on skyrim and just about any other game.

Makes me feel sick so i use MSI Afterburner to limit my FPS to 60

Barely and Tearing depending on the game, if you get a game that does just VSYNC it and cap the FPS to 59.9 or 59 and the mouselag goes.

OK found it, I have the latest version of Afterburner, just tried it out and set it to 60FPS, I still noticed it stuttering, also reset the GPU overclock, should I set my limit higher or lower, whats the normal around here that usually yeild best performance/quality

I always thought mw2 was capped to 90ish fps? I can't see a 560ti getting anything close to 500fps..

EDIT just ran mw2 for the first time in ages, got 550 fps on a gtx 580.

Yes thanks for the ridicule, if you read my first post I said I thought I would have alittle fun and play one of my long loved games, ie one I have had sitting unplayed for about 4 years.

Im waiting until the weekend to buy BF3 on my HMV gift vouchers I have had since xmas, along with a long list of other things, like windows 7, a proper 1920x1080 monitor, All these things cost money but I like to make do with what I have got until I get bored.

Thanks for the advice guys

Hey don't feel like you need to play the latest stuff, I have bf3, mw3 skyrim blah blah, the large majority of my time on games is still spent on cod4 and CSS.

Try setting to 58 or 59 fps as it says in that thread.
