Hey guys,

Been looking at a new car, I had a look at the evoque and wasn't impressed with it plus its pretty expensive. I had a look at the BMWs and to my surprise the 328 is more expensive than the 528. It's because they sell many more 5 series in the UAE compared to 3 series. 528 is 225,000 and 328 is 235,000 , it's in the UAE so divide by 6 to get £. Difference between the 2 is that the 3 has higher spec, it's got HUD , much better wheels , keyless , extra sound system and full cameras for parking. 5 has nav so I'm happy with it, just has bad alloys so I need to upgrade them. Is it a no brainer to get the 5? My friends said 3 series is going to be more fun and sportier, but the 5 has a more luxury feel, it's just the 5 seems too big for me and I'm young, feels like an old persons car. Going for a test drive tomorrow so I get more of an idea of the two, but I'm upgrading from an old focus 1.4 so I guess any of them is good. Resale value of the 5 is probably a lot better aswell.

What's your opinions guys?

The 528i is better built, more refined, has a nicer interior, has a better equipment list.

The 3 Series will handle a bit better, is a bit quicker and, err, you can get them in Estoril Blue.

This sums up the pros and cons. Enjoy your new 5 Series :)

No idea about those cars, but on the off chance that you work for a governmental organisation, you can get something like 30% off those prices. In case you didn't know.
Also, if you are not set on a BMW specifically check the service reputation of AGMC ( I assume you are in Dubai?) as its not the best.

Good luck

Sounds good to me.

I do work for a government company, my friend got a very good discount on his 135i, including insurance and the 5 year service contract, so hopefully the prices will be a lot lower. I'm in Abu Dhabi, but the guys here seem to have a good reputation.

Thanks for the help!

If your upgrading from a focus and I would go with the 3 series if its better spec and cheaper. The new 5 series F10 is a big car, although its also a very nice looking car ;)

If you were here in the UK, I would say 3 series if your mainly town driving and country lanes and 5 series if your mainly motorway miles, as the 5 series eats motorway miles!

Cheers

That's a bit of luck then! Who do you work for?

No such perks for me :(

Do me a favour..can you check if they give the discount without you actually providing proof of your employer? ;)
One of the guys on evolve.ae was saying he got a 6 series gran coupe (?) for 340k reduced from 430k for saying he working for Etisalat.. which he did.. but interesting to see if they demand evidence.

cheers

Not really sure the size even matters, the 3 Series is hardly a compact supermini and the 5 Series isn't a Maybach 62 so the difference in size makes little negative difference.

I do mainly town driving and find the size of the 5 Series well suited.

Especially here.. Parking spaces are large and usually plentiful, the roads are wide and fuel is cheap.
