55" LG OLED or 65" Sony LCD?

well the conclusion is rtings is wrong ? , their reviews have been lacking before with respect to details eg on dimming zone counts too, in my recollection, versus, flatpanels say.
When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth

I just quoted the review site he referenced after he basically called me an idiot who looks at paid for reviews.... lol

Was in a similar situation 12 months ago. Went for a 65" LCD over a 55"OLED and don't regret it one bit and still love the TV. Have the Samsung 65NU8000.
I actually could have gone 75" but it was a massive price jump back then.
If I'd had an OLED before then maybe going to the PQ of the LED would have bothered me. As I didn't and came from and old 37" TV i have no regrets and no plans changing any time soon.

Thanks again for the replies, and the bickering, lol, all part of the fun of buying a new TV!

Think it's got to be the 65" C9, way over my original £1000'ish budget, but 18 months interest free credit sweetens that bitter pill, going to ring up and order one tomorrow as long as it's still the same price and still in stock.

Enjoy!

My living room is small though, my current 51" feels perfect for normal TV, just a little small for movies and gaming, just thinking that stepping up to 55" isn't a big enough upgrade.

Thanks, I'll see what comes up tomorrow.

My media room is small (3m distance from me to the screen) and I’m installing a 95’’ projector screen in there this week. So I guess size is relative to the level of immersion and experience you want.

I personally think especially for films with the letterbox bars, the bigger you can get, the better. I’d not buy a TV that’s not bigger than 65’’ again now.

The issue with going big is once you have, its hard to go back. My FALDS and OLEDs can be as deep black as they want but a beautiful issue and artifact free projection is something to behold IMO. You can have 4K, 8k, 10k but you can’t pick up on details which are size relative like the feathers on a bird.

I was looking at the a forum thread about the lg65 and panel tints... some shocking pics on that thread.

Think that the Sony 9005 might be the better bet at £500-600 cheaper

My friend has had two C9 65" both have had bad tinting and banding issues. He is going to try a third and if that's bad then give up.

I have been lucky as my B6 does not suffer from this I was looking at upgrading but after seeing what his looks like its hardly an upgrade tbh.

It looks very similar to this from a user on AVF... It looks worse in the flesh and is noticeable on normal viewing.
