55" or 65"

It's not a wind up. Really can't see what would be funny about it?
I haven't been to an opticians for a long time - can't actually remember when the last time was, but talking many years. There's nothing wrong with my eye sight, I don't wear glasses or contacts and can see objects that are distant just fine. For example, I can read a car registration plate easily several meters away. But when watching TV, I just prefer to be up close, it's almost like sitting in the cinema and I like that experience. I watched a film last night for nearly 1.5 hours and had no eye strain with me sitting around 60 cms away from the screen, and I only got up once for a toilet break. Luckily the gf is away so it wasn't a problem, but I really need to get the situation resolved by the weekend as she's back Saturday afternoon. I think i'll buy 2 sets, one will be 48-49" for me, and the other will be 55" for her. I don't want to risk going for a 55" for me as I'm used to a 49" and think the bigger size won't be suited for my viewing style. I'll probably have to end up putting my set in the spare bedroom and watching there as I don't think 2 sets will look right in the living room, despite the room being fairly big.

You can't see what is weird about sitting in, what I imagine is, a living room that is bigger than 2m x 2m and being 60cm from the TV? I don't even think I sit as close as 60cm to my work monitors...

Seems a waste both watching the same thing in two different rooms.

I can totally understand having a beanbag for movies together sitting 1.5m away from a big screen with popcorn, but 60cm is practically sat on the screen.

Something is definitely not right here. Sitting 60cm away from a 49" screen goes WAYYYY beyond what you'd experience in a cinema, even if sitting in the front row. Please do as suggested and get an eye test. Boots do them free right now. What's the harm?

Only reason you'd press your face right upto a TV/monitor would to do a pixel test. lol

if you do go down the two TV route and keep them both in the same room , how would you position them? , would you and your partner be back to back or the TV's back to back ? , who would wear the headphones ? you with your face less than 2 feet from the screen , or perhaps you both would wear headphones ? :D

I'm not so sure about that tbh.

I have a mate who bought a 4K 49" Tv to use as his PC gaming monitor. he probably sits about 60-80 cm away from it at a desk. I was round at his the other day and it looked fine tbh.

However I do agree in a living room TV/Movie set up it is ridiculous
