55" TV under £1k

I'm looking for a 55" screen for under a grand. I almost bought the LG 55UB820V, but some reviews are not too favourable so I decided against. I'm thinking at that screen size I'm going to need 4k?

Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm considering the same at the moment, deciding between the Samsung UE55H6400 (HD - £849) and UE55HU7500 (4k - £1600), although the new 4k models have just come out, so I'll need to consider them

I'm thinking HD won't look so great at that screen size, which is why I thought 4K. I could have course, be wrong about that!

Oh, and I don't know where you're pricing those two Samsung units, but both are a couple hundred quid cheaper than you've stated.

Use Pricespy and you might save yourself some cash. Ok, I can see why you're opting for JL, I bought my TV from them, but if you're after a bargain...

I have £250 of JL vouchers, combined with the warranty it's going to have to be a pretty good deal to beat it.

What's the thoughts on HD at a 55" screen size, is it enough or does it really need to be 4k?

Absolutely enough. What 4k content were you planning to watch - there's very little!

I've just picked up a Sony W829, beautiful set, really pleased.

I was planning to upgrade my Netflix subscription. I've seen the Sony set mentioned in loads of places.

Check out marks electricals website the two lg plasmas, 50" for 399 which is the one I have it does absolutely everything all smart functions wifi built in its the top notch plasma for a good price, and the 60" is 650 quid.

I absolutely love mine best picture quality iv ever had built in freesat hd and freeview hd etc Id give you links but I'm on my fone. They are absolutely fantastic tho they are amazing they really are I can't stress enough how good this tv is

Edit the 60" is 599! Even cheaper. Wish I had the 60, the 50 is friggin amazing

I think I'm decided on the UE55H6700

edit: It's the LG 60PB660V at 599, it does look a really good deal

£100 more that I can see, freesat and a marginally better panel, and I think it's a significantly better looking TV, I really don't like the stand on the other one, and it is going to be stood on a corner unit, so is a consideration.

Im on my pc now yeah I was talking about the LG 60PB660V for 599,

I have the 50" and jesus Christ, honestly the picture quality is blowing my old Panasonic 42" plasma outta the water and the Panasonic cost over a grand a few years ago. plus all the smart tv functions the lg has which the Panasonic didn't etc.

Its the best tv iv ever owned hands down, its so crisp and colours are amazing, Even SD content looks amazing on tv. theres no noise on the edges etc.

Also, the speakers on it are bloody brilliant that's another massiv bonus with these LG plasmas.

And did you say you don't like the stand on the LG? personally, iv never actually looked at the stand on mine, its not something I worry about, it looks quite good in person though and its pretty sturdy.

also tho its plasma, there isn't much reflectiveness on the panel which is great.

for the price, it cant really be beaten, it blows a 1080 LED tv outta the water with picture quality
