Hi all.

I'm just about to put a machine together for general usage, surfing and word processing stuff.

I won't be playing games on it as I have a gaming set up at the moment.

So is there any real point in buying the 5600g? will the G aspect improve the pc in any aspect except gaming?

You need a GPU so if you don't care about gaming or GPU compute then get the 5600G otherwise you're going to need to buy a dedicated GPU.

It doesn't. Read the manual, says all of that only works with a CPU with integrated graphics. I agree the specs are misleading though. There are no more consumer integrated graphics on motherboards.

The 5600G offers video out and decent amount of GPU acceleration. AMD’s APU’s are PDQ chips.
 
For general usage I find those tiny hp elitedesk mini desktop pcs to be very good and hardly take up desk space and very lower power usage. Can get good deals on them too.

PCI-E 3.0 is pretty fast. Unless you need a drive with 4000mb/s + read-write you wouldn’t really gain much outside of moving massive files or having access to a bonkers fast network.

I’ve got a 5700G system, and it can do an impressive impersonation of a proper workstation when called upon.
