Was waiting till I got a GPU first but decided I might just buy my new system and stick my RX580 in it for the time being.

Was looking at options but am I right in saying the i5-11600K is better than the 5600X and motherboards actually look cheaper for this socket.

Cheers.

Personally I wouldn't consider a 11600K over a 5600X but the 11400F is a good alternative if your looking to save a few quid.

If you're not bothered about PCIe gen 4.0 the B450 tomahawk Max II is a very good AM4 board for only £60.

What reason is the 5600X a better option? I looked at some benchmarks and Intel won from what I seen and they are both similar price.

The "F" model I think I read doesn't have integrated graphics (can someone confirm?) and if that is the case I would rather skip that. Its one thing I've hated with the new Ryzen CPU that I couldn't test a GPU without having ANOTHER gpu handy lol.

The 5600X uses half the power so runs cooler and will also hit its full potential on a cheap B450 whereas the 11600K needs an expensive Z board if you want to get the most out of it and also AM4 has better upgrade options with higher core counts and 3D V-cache CPUs coming in a few months while Intel will be moving to a new socket so the 11th gen is end of the road.

Ah ok,

5600X it will probably be then, and a B550 :)
Does 5600X have integrated?

Cheers
No if your set on intergrated then will you have to go for an Intel chip. AMD do have a 5600G but its quite a bit slower and not really worth considering if you already have a DGPU.

Damn,

So choice is really 5600X which is fast and good value for money but sacrifice IGPU or Intel which has the IGPU but sacrifice full potential of speed unless I get an expensive motherboard and runs a lot warmer/more power.

Probably will end up with Ryzen but good to have food for thought.

I'm sure the Intel can win in *some* benchmark, but across a wide variety of loads it is way behind:

I know AT like to run CPU gaming benches at crazy low resolutions to not stress the GPU which might not be realistic but even ignoring that, in actually CPU limited games Zen3 is a lot faster:

OF course, for gaming multiplayer maps are usually the most CPU limited, but few reviewers want to bench those as they are so hard to replicate.

Cheers,

I probably could go with a 3600 as its just for gaming but I like want to future proof myself (get another 8years or so) so assumed going 5600X was a nice step up.

Going to just pass this one onto my kids (without a GPU) for Roblox until I can get myself a replacement card.

You could save money and go for a 3600 then always drop in a 5900X in a few years when they are going cheap.

The 5600G is a beast for its power use. Not quite as fast as a 5600X but still seriously powerful.

The AM4 platform in general is a better option - there is possibly another generation coming to the socket (chips with more cache),

Additionally resell value and availability of second hand CPU sidegrades/upgrades (3800x/3900x/3950x/5800x/5900x/5950x) further down the line will be greater, as the vast majority of people have jumped onboard Ryzens this generation.

If it's just a case of needing some kind of graphics output until you can get a "proper" GPU, then just pick up a Quadro K600 for ~£15 or so. Still have drivers that are a current NVIDIA branch

You can then pick either an AMD CPU or a cheaper "F" model Intel chip

Or save £20 and buy a 5600G.
