How is it, nearly 2012 and people still add bracketed tags of (56k warning), (56k no no) etc.

Everyone in this day and age has some sort of broadband, even with 512k being so minimum as well. I especially wouldn't think any OCUK users are still rocking the old 56k.

I guess it's just because it's easier to write 56k warning, therefore interpreted to us as 'hejus christ, lots of images!' - Force of habit, holding onto the past? :P

Mobile devices and silly slow Internet connections in some villages around the country.

Also habit/joke and another way of saying shed loads of photos inside.

It's not often you see it these days anyway, even a couple of years ago it was far more common.

Even when I was still on dial up or on single channel ISDN, that tag never stopped me entering a thread.

I miss the sound of dialing up and that sound of screeching or whatever you want to call it... ah the good ol days.. I also remember being on 28K dial up and seeing threads of 56K beware and still entering the thread, like a boss

If you're on a lame ISP on a basic package, shaping will have you down at 56k speeds for various traffic. So it isn't that far away.

Lol, I remember back in 1998 the German dudes in my Quake 2 clan were starting to get ADSL and I had only just got a 56k modem to replace my 28k modem/soundblaster combo card cos my dad was cheap ^^

Im on ~128k. In a fairly decent location aswell :/

Unlucky. I used to live in Aycliffe, and the connection was rubbish. The problem is that at the time that Aycliffe was built there was a copper shortage, so all of Aycliffe's phone lines use aluminium which fine for phones but not too good for broadband.

I seem to remember posts like this before on this forum.... WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP REPEATING THE SAME GOD.....

really who cares if you dont want to read or go into the post DONT
