Quick question guys, brother's looking at upgrading his PC. He only plays WoW, but he raids a lot and is wondering will a 5770 be enough to cope with 25 man raids on a 19" widescreen.

Ta, Stew.

Get an nvidia card if you want to run wow on ultra settings on a budget as they have vastly high FPS then ati cards on that game.

I just installed my 5770 1gb today played WoW for about 2 mins and it was fine, i used to run it on a 8800GTS 512mb on my 20" screen and raid no problems what so ever.

Even had it on ultra at one point but it sucked lol

Cheers guys, stuck with the 5770. Apparently he wants to play SC2 as well, presumably that will be ok as well?

Actually, there's a myriad of issues with ATI cards and SC2, one look at the "ATI cards" thread on battle.net forums will show you that. I was going to get a 5770 but after reading all the horror story with Blizzard games, I'm going to pay a little extra and get a gtx 460.

Used to run 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF with my 5770 Vapor-X and it gave me a silky smooth experience except in laggy Dalaran.

Don't forget, people with 8800GTXs and the like get very good framerates on this game, so something with the equivalent power of an HD4870 will eat it up.

Oh really?

Plays absolutely peachy on my "aging" 4870 xFire setup. Got it running at 1920x1200 with most settings on Ultra except for texture setting which I had to drop to High because the game doesn't utilize both cards memory properly.

Also saw it running on an older system with a single 4850 and it looked fine too.

Lastly my friend has it running on a GF7800 GT which I gave him years ago.. And he claims it runs fine on medium settings.

Great game btw, been waiting for this sequel for years and it was worth the wait, can't wait for the 2 expansions now :).

Yeah I'm probably as excited as he is about SC2, was massively into WC3 and do love the Blizzard RTS style, and all the better if he pays for it too ;)

No problems here on my 5870.
