5770 for £113

1680 x 1050

Is it worth waiting for prices to lower as new card come out soon? I suppose i could be saying that forever though like usual

Just buy the card I linked to, man it's not like its a bank buster price and it will walk all over your GT.

But would it walk all over something like a GTX260 if i could find on second hand for around £100?

If you had a choice would you get a 5770 or GTX260? I know the 5770 supports dx11 but isnt the 260 faster?

Stock speeds the 260 is a little bit faster, the 5770 clocks really high so it can surpass even a clocked 260, frankly I wouldn't buy an EOL card that's old tech, not when the performance difference is not that substantial. If you can get a 260 for 60-70 then yes go for it.

gtx260 is actually faster than 5770, but 5770 have the advantage of dx11 and lower heat and power draw. i would say go for the gtx260 if you can get it for £100-120ish, if not then 5770 is the way to go.

But then i couldnt run DX11 right? Wont DX11 stuff run crap with a 5770 anyway. Presumably its the midrange ATI card that must handle DX11 pretty poorly

Ppl still underestimate 5770s, I've not found anything that isn't smooth @ 1680*1050 yet, including crysis. It runs surprisingly well at 1920*1080 too considering the price. And it clocks very well. Theres no erason to get a 260 over a 5770 sadly.

Oh and for a record, a pair of 5770s are both cheaper and faster than a 5850, so that's always an upgrade path.

Sorry to hijack but would this 512mb 5770 be able to play Bad Company 2 at 1400x900 with an E8400 on high settings? I'm currently using a 7800gtx and I'm having to run it on low settings and it runs like crap

Thanks for the speedy reply, much appreciated. I've just checked the ocuk website and they're selling a 1024 version for £117 :). It's also no wonder that my game lags then.. my current card is 256 mb

Definately. I currently have a [email protected], 4gb ram and 8800GT. In 1650 x 1080 2x aa and 2x af, everything highest except HBAO off and it gets between 40-70 in single player and multiplayer around 30fps most of the time on biggest maps.

Metro 2033 plays like crap though (but does look amazing)

Thanks for that. Thats 10x better than what I'm currently having to put up with! All low settings with low resolution. 25fps avg, drops below 10fps quite often and the game locks up sometimes for a second or 2 in fire fights some times. To sum up, my current card sucks donky ... :D

the 5770 clocked to 1 Ghz is unbeatable value. The £119 powercolor would currently be the best buy.

They are even better value when paired in crossfire.

I may be wrong, but don't the club3d cards have different ports on them? Might be relevant if so (think I read it in another thread somewhere).

i would say yes, because my 9800gtx can run bad company2 at 1920*1080 with high setings and 4xAA easily at around 30fps other than the bit with the boat

Forgot to mention, my Xpertvision 8800GT only just fits in my computer. Is the 5770 about the same size, smaller or bigger? (in length)
