550W psu that could do with an upgrading for better efficiency.

so...my gpu is a 5770.

I was thinking of getting a 7850 but now I'm not so sure and now thinking a 6950 is possibly as good a buy.

So, what is the general consensus on this one ?

Would I be better just going for a 7870 ?

My budget is £200 but I'm capable of going £70 above that. TBH I'd rather not as the extra £70 would be better spent on my summer family hols...but I can push it if need be.

In essence what I'm saying is that I'm not as impressed with the 7850 as I thought I would be but ity is surely still a significant upgrade as I'm on a 5770.

Oh, btw. I'm totally ratarsed ! :D

He can overclock the nuts off the 7850 though. Ok yes the 6950 can still be clocked well but the new 28 process should see better overclocking headroom and a better boost if going for the 7*** series card?

A similar situation for me, although im upgrading from a 5750.

Too many options at the moment :) I'm not really that bothered about the top end stuff but deciding on a last gen card or a new one is difficult because the older cards are cheaper and offer excellent performence but the newer ones surely have more to offer down the line, and they are obviously much more efficient in terms of power and heat.

I started off thinking I would just upgrade to the like of a 6850, which then went to a 560ti to a 560ti 448 core. Now I'm considering a 7850 or 6950. So many pros and cons on all sides its hard to make a decision. Might just wait a couple of months and see if prices of older gen cards are driven down by the newer ones.
