Been hearing a lot of rumors that are being repeated constantly and I called AMD and they have actually confirmed it(.....i couldn't believe they would admit it but hell.)

If you don't have a 5870/5850 now you probably will not see one till the 1st/2nd quarter next year as the 5800 series have been deactivated due to TSMC not producing any more chips for ATI.

Now the fanboi version is Nvidia is paying them off to concentrate on the GT300, I doubt that but all cards on the table ATI have now joined Nvidia because only a small amount of people who want a 5870/5850 actually got one and by the time they make more for shipment to Asus blah blah, GT300 will probably be released and then its tight competition or much cheaper 5870's for all.

There might actually be some floating around just not in the numbers that will go round well.

Unless Overclockers can confirm large numbers of stock coming in, they need to remove the pre orders from the website to out of stock unknown eta.

Now I hope its just a rumour and the guy on the other end of the phone was just a *****.

TSMC are muckin it up for everybody, wether you have have preference for red or green. Surley this had to happen when both players use the same company to produce their chips. Is there no other company capable of making these things?

hm...

Newegg really are declaring it as deactivated. I hate to say it but Yurihyuga may be on to something...this is not looking good.

so looks like ATI have far from won as Nvidia already have orders in for there chips which have pretty much been done and ATI have to sit back and watch. However Nvidia will get hit by the same wall because if they didn't order enough chips TSMC will then go to ATI again this is going to be a rollercoaster ride.

Orders does not mean actual items remember. It's entirely possible Nvidia will be hit even harder by this.

Assuming its not complete garbage of course, which I have yet to rule out.

well if it gets ruled out I will be happy, I was gonna pre-order one before i came across this crap so not gonna pay until I see stock atm. The info the call and newegg seems to be sticking.

Still plenty of 5770s and they're 40nm, doesn't seem to add up? ATI would ask for 5770 cores to be dropped in favour of manufacturing 5870 cores surely?
