5800X - Low Cinebench R20 scores

I wouldnt read too much into the bios descriptions.
The MSI one says 'Support AMD SAM(SMART ACCESS MEMORY) function'
It obviously fixed more than that with 5000 series as it doesnt crash or give low Cinebench r20 scores anymore. It should have probably read "Improved stability with Ryzen 5000 series CPU...Support AMD SAM..."
Like every company, they wont admit there are issues (or fixed issues) unless everyone starts highlighting them
Big IT software companies are terrible for this. I know as my job for over 10 years is with one of them
 
Do these scores look low?

Cinebench R20
CPU multi 5271
CPU single 491

I have BIOS defaults enabled, XMP on auto and RAM is looking correct.

somethings wrong as on average a stock out of box chip shoud hit over 600 points single score and around 6,000 points multi score, though ram speed will make a fairly big diffrence, the sweetspot for 2nd and 3rd gen ryzen's are 3600mhz and with 3rd gen it will be more but newer bios's are needed to push upto 4000mhz to run 1:1.

the voltages at stock of around 1.4v are completly normal and are needed for the cpu to boost upto its high frequences, but a big problem is the heat gernerated, if you dont deal with that the cpu all core speed and single core speed will be signifigantly lower which will drop cpu only test scores down dramatically, you need to keep below 80 degrees at a max temp and ideally below 70 but that's pretty hard tbh most chips are around the 70-80 degree mark under load, i know my 5950x at 4.6ghz with 1.3v manual cpu vcore hits 81 degrees under a custom 360mm loop under heavy cpu load :(

and a big thing is to close down all unessesary background programs too, anything that takes around 1-5% of the cpu will affect scores too

Thanks for info on temps. Think im idle around 30c and max load is 81.5c in Cinebench R20. I am using a low noise / RPM reduction adapter on the CPU fan. I might try it without

I just tried without the low noise adapter... much noisier and temps exactly the same!

One strange thing I noticed I that I swapped the fans around and doing so i moved the rubber gromet things on the corners of the fans. Even with the low noise adapter there was a strange humming sound. I put the rubber gromets and fans back to how they were and it stopped.
It seem the fan pulling if it has the lower profile rbber gromets so making it closer to the heatsink this causes the humming. Slightly larger grommets and a bit further from the heatsink and it goes away. It must be an airflow thing from push fan > HS > pull fan > exhaust fan

have you tried a custom pump speed, try setting 90-100% speed when the cpu goes over 70 degrees, also try a manual oc and set a manual core voltgae too, if you do it right it should drop a bit :)

fair bit to set up but if done right, she'll fly :) (pump speed, fan rpm's and a manual oc with manual core voltage), or leave at stock enable pbo but in the bios set a manual vcore around the 1.325v mark, sure the chip wont boost to 5ghz but the lower voltage should net better temps
 
I put the BETA BIOS on with Patch C and its not changed my Cinebench scores much but I`m not that bothered.

Removing the pump revealed that the muppets who installed it had not put the TIM on properly and about a 1/5th of the CPU had none on at all. So I cleaned it all off and put on some grizzly and its knocked off about 3c idle and under benchmark load. Also got rid of the pump vibration noise too. (I always set my pump to 100% just prefer it and at one point it was recommended). Its a 120mm AIO by PC Specialists and I`m tempted to get a ASUS ROG Ryuo 240mm to see if it brings the temps down more.

However at the moment quiet happy I've got all the fans balanced and noise wise its sounding better than yesterday.
