Currently I have 5820k @4.3 GHz paired with GTX 1070ti. Looking to upgrade my gpu and I'm looking at RTX 3080. Just wondering if 5820 will be ok for RTX 3080 ?
I play on a monitor which is 1440p 60hz and have LG OLED C9 which supports 1440p and 4k 120hz and more importantly supports gsync which is the main reason for new gpu upgrade.

I’m in a similar boat. 5820k at 4.4. At 1440 60 it’s gonna be a waste let’s face it but on your TV it’s going to be great. It’ll be great for a quest 2 with all the settings turned up too.

Go for it I say

For 1440p upwards it will be fine - might lose out on a handful of FPS compared to the latest and greatest CPUs but it isn't much currently (might change with future games).

Even the older 4000 series aren't hideously far behind at higher resolutions:

Thought that might be the case, i'll update in the future when I need to but as you said fine for know. Just had a look at the RAM and its only 2400 Mhz, I see my mobo supports up to 3200 Mhz .....would that be a worthy upgrade ?
Thanks for your help :)

Will do, just a matter of finding one in stock .....joined discord group for stock updates so hopefully will get lucky before new year.

RAM makes a little bit of a difference but on the 5820K you don't want to go nuts - you are talking 5-10% performance difference in games between lower end and higher end RAM.
