Hi Guys,

I am a proud owner of a 5850 and have installed the latest Ati drivers 10.6, but when I went to the Ati overdrive the settings for GPU clock is currently at 400Mhz and the memory clock is 900Mhz? are these the right settings?

I recognise the top section with the GPU at 725Mhz and the memory clock currently at 1000mhz. but I am worried about the values at the bottom of the overdrive??

I am not playing any games. does the clock speed go down when not in full use playing a game?

Catalyst 10.5 and 6 will cause higher idle clocks when overclocking, this is ATI's fix for screen flickering with two monitors, using stock clocks will bring back normal idle clocks.

Yes the clocks go down when not gaming.

right so basically, when it's not in use playing a game the clock speeds go down. but go back up when playing games? so my values are normal idle values?

No they will go lower if you don't overclock, even if you are not overclocking your current clocks maybe because you're browsing the web with adobe flash content, the latest drivers have flash acceleration ability so the clocks will go up to run the flash content instead of the CPU.
