5850 or 6850?

You could get a £213 6950 and flash it to a 6970 though if you have the extra funds.

£63 more than a 5850 but destroys it

:D woah, that thread gave me a headache, hardly helped at all lol

one of the main things i wanna know is, i know the 5850 is faster at stock, but whats the 6850 like overclocked?

easyrider, i wish i could spend that extra bit but i just havnt got it atm! Max i could stretch too is 165! thanks :)

EDIT : if i sell my current card ill be able to spend £200 , which i'd be able to buy a 6870 , what you think?

An extra £13 on top of your edit and you'd have a 6950.

Just putting it back out there :p.

:D I dont really wanna spend that much as ill have to pay postage too... & ive spent way too much on my pc lately :D haha

lol I feel ya. I'm in the process of sending my 5850 back to OCuK that I have not received yet and buying the 6950 so I'm trying to take you with me on a wonderful journey. Weeeeeeee.

Seriously though. I would let the ideas flow in to your thread whilst looking at some reviews of the 6950 that should include the 6850/6870 and see if that extra £13 would be worth it.

The competitor has the same card selling for £214 inc. If you really can't stretch your budget, get it from there. For all I know, getting HD6950 is the wisest move atm.

ive been looking at a new GPU recently and both the 5850 and 6950 look great.
Both are great value cards but at different price points.

The 5850 is great for £150 of less
The 6950 is great for around the £200 mark.

If you can stretch to £200 (which you can) you'd be silly not to save an extra tenner (well £13) and go for the 6950.

Bear in mind it overclocks to a 6970 easily enough IIRC.

Maybe this will sway you -

It does seem ATI are better value at the moment.

thanks for the replys guys, im gonna stick with the 5850 and 6850 for now as i would like to save money, im currently running a 5750 overclocked which nearly max's out most of the games i play at my resolution 1680x1050. BUT if i sell my 5750 i can consider the 6950/70 :)

If i can get a 6850 and overclock it to beat the stock 5850 by a bit ill be more than happy, i just cant find any overlocked benchmarks of the 6850 sadly
