5850 problem | screenshots inside

My mate bought a brand new XFX 5850 Black Edition yesterday for his new i5 rig. Loaded up a couple of games and there's a problem with the graphics.

Anyone shed any light on what this is and, if possible, how to fix it?

unlucky, yes does indeed look broken. rma time. send to the retailer NOT xfx!

Was bought in-store, however. Is it just as simple as taking it back in for a replacement?

yes i think so in this case. the card looks faulty. takew it in tell what happened. get refund or new card
