5850, where would you go from here?

Yip I have a nice asus 5850 and wondered about crossfiring... mainly play eve and BF3 .. If I do crossfire I'd prob need a better PSU than my existing 650W.. so I'd need to replace that too..

Would i see much increase in the FPS on bf3 crossfired ?

As for anyone else, going from a 5850 to a 7850 you will be disappointed if you're expecting any more than a 20-30% performance boost, but you may get lucky from overclocking.

To be honest 30% will last me another year at least, my 5850 plays everything but at Ultra on a few games you notice a few drops.

The 5850 has been a true stalwart though!

Go with the MSI or Sapphires. MSI are in stock so that'd be the one to go for, plus the TFIII coolers are superb.

Considering how cool the 7 series runs do you think the extra money is really worth it?

Not really much extra tbh. The stock cooler version (Powercolor) is £192, and the TFIII is £200...

Personally I'd pay the extra £8 for the much better cooler.

Bleek, any chance you could fix your signature? It has an image in it with a URL starting with "sig.steamutility.com". Every time I view a page where you've posted I get this:

Sweet cheers for the link guys! gonna see what comes on the cd as well considering its a new card i would like to think amd have the lastest drivers on the cd but i wont hold my breath

I went from a single 5850 to 3x7970 cards as I wanted 1080p @120fps and 1440p @ 60fps.

If you want 1080p gaming at 60fps in the latest titles a 5850 does cut it but you need to compromise with the settings and I got fed up with it :)

Ah, the cheapest reference design I found was £184.

I didn't realise it had stopped working, I've added a new one so should be OK now. :)

Fair do's, though personally even £16 is good value for a top end 3rd party cooler :D

I've got the TFIII in now and it is utterly silent. I'm really really fussy about GPU noise and I honestly wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it.

28C idle, 59C load at stock. Can't hear the card at all. :D
