So I haven't really used my PC for about 5 months, as in it was unplugged and boxed. The past week I hooked it all up to play a few games, but cannot for the life of me get the resolution back up to 1080p. All I get is 1600x1200. Got a Sammy 24' screen and a 5870 and been playing at top resolution for all this time. Any ideas?

Have you reinstalled both the GPU and monitor drivers?

I've had AMD cards mess up with resolution before, usually fixed by taking it out and using another slot, and then back after a turn on etc, or changing card and then changing back after.
However, if it's games, have you tried aspect ratio? Or change the games settings via .txt which also works (When I had problems with Crysis).

What's wrong with reinstalling the monitor driver?

Installing the monitor driver allows Windows to "know" what resolutions and refresh rates the monitor supports.

If Windows has reverted back to a generic driver for some reason then it may have blocked the use of higher resolutions.

It's the first time I've ever seen something referred to as a monitor driver before.
