5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?

Hope it's ok to post this here. :)

I bought a powercolor pcs+ 5870 (from overclockers) and it's a nice card, runs everything great apart from of the two main MMO's I play, one Battleground Europe does not run with this card at all.

This isn't a discussion about the game and I've tried everything to get it working, it's a common problem.

I think I'm going to go back to my old nvidia card for now, my question though is how much do you reckon I'd get for the card? It's only about 10 days old (only used for 3 days), original box and all packaging, runs with no problems in all other games and I havn't even used the coupon to get dirt 2.
 
I know you said this isn't a discussion about the game and the card, but what exactly does it do when you try and run it, seems really bizzare that a game just blank refuses to run on it!

Is it all ATi card's that the problem occurs with, or just the 58xx's?
 
The game freezes on the map screen or brigade screens. I think it might be something to do with switching from 3d to 2d, not sure.

Other than that it's a great card, but I only really play MMO's and for one of the ones I play to not work isn't enough for me. :)
 
Is there not a consumer law that allows you to return an item if you have had it less than 2 weeks. Sure there is something. I had a part not so long ago from a company thats starts with D and ends in abs and they alow you to return within so long. I would look into that.

I have tried everything Coldfusion. I can understand why you think it's odd but I only play MMO's really and I have friends that play, it's my PvP game. :) Don't want to quit due to a card.

It seems even 10.3 doesn't fix it.
 
Heh, I once bought a new CD drive to play a game because for some strange reason it didnt like my old one.

Could you not use the old Nvidia card until they fix the issue, or does it not look like they will fix it.

Isnt Battlefield Europe that WWII MMO released about 5 years ago?
 
Yeah it's an old game, new graphics update on beta though. :)

Also i like the gameplay. :)

I will use my old card for a bit but it's not looking like getting fixed, seems there are longstanding issues with ati cards and that game.

Just downloaded 10.4 beta drives from a forum link i found.
 
Well so far one crash in 2 hours in BE so better with these new drivers, but still not as my nvidia was.

Not sure how to PM steveo, lol, can't find the damn button. :)
 
It's with a new PC so thinking longer term.

Not all MMO's are CPU based, sure EQ2 is but they are adding some new shaders which will go on the GPU. Battleground is GPU focused with new update coming. LOTRO is GPU based.

I do have the odd none MMO too. ;)

Maybe wait (if you can) until CRS releases the 1.31 patch for Battleground Europe, as I heard they have sorted out a workaround for the problems they were getting with ATi drivers. Not sure if it has been implemented yet though. Try contacting DOC or somebody else directly at CRS... ;)
 
Yeah Marshall I think I am going to wait as I just tried the 10.4 beta going around on the net and manged to play for 4 hours with only one crash (black screen freeze).

Not sure how legit those 10.4 beta drivers are, but they seem to work for me.

NO sales talk outside of the MM.

Yes Windows 7 is dumb and will try to run your ATI card with any Nvidia files it finds whilst ignoring your ATI drivers.... You'd think MS would have fixed that.....
