Hi,

I stupidly had a go on ati overdrive and it corrupted the screen. I was forced to boot into safe mode and get rid of the drivers. However now I cannot seem to reinstall them.

Any advice on what to do? Seems my only option would be to reflash the bios. It's an asus 5870v1

Just enabling overdrive should not break your card, I have 5870 and no problems what ever I do with overdrive.

When you say corrupted the screen, can you give more details?
Did screen go pixelated, lost colour, did you get lines or bars over screen, and so on?

you're right it shouldn't and i'm posting from the same pc just without a display driver. Basically I was forced to reset it as the screen turned purple with lines. on Booting those lines would show up before I could get into the CCC to fix it. I got rid of the drivers via safe mode but have been unable to install a display driver since.

These are with the 10.10 drivers

ok updated drivers from windows update and it's fixed. How weird. Guess uninstalling the drivers screwed the registry or something. Never liked ati's installer

Glad to hear it is working now, but i would not stop there.

Symptoms you have could point possibly to hardware fault, i might be overly pessimistic here, but run some benchmarks to stress your card and see how card behaves under stress, your card is still under warranty?

Nah I have the same card. The overdrive feature really doesnt seem to agree with it. It does the business on vantage benchmark though so I wouldnt be too worried

Now reupdated to 10.10 think i've learned my lesson here never trust ati overdrive. Update: reformated all is good what a load of trouble.
