So just got a 5930K, runs fine at stock and games feel good.
I have a none OC socket board, what sort of a clock should i be looking at. also i have noticed that when i set XMP the CPU get locked to 3.7Ghz.
If i am overclocking a 6core CPU i would like it to be via turbo, is there any way to set XPM and keep turbo on?

A non oc socket board will limit cache clocking, and you may struggle with ram speed higher than 3000mhz. Using a non oc socket board myself, ram runs fine at 3000mhz and so far I've managed 4.5ghz on 1.300v. Only tested briefly though. Not sure on the XMP and turbo part so ill check what it sets mine too when enabled. Browsing on the phone at the moment.

my ram is only 2666Mhz and the system feels stable with that speed set via XMP.
am not really fussed about cache clocking it really only affect's benching, with minimum real world gains.
Right now my system is on air but i will be adding water when i sort a second gpu and some blocks

Also shocked to hear a board like msi mpower, docent have an OC socket

Youll be fine on air for the time being. Theyre not what id call a hot chip when doing normal stuff.

Also have a 5930k and running at 4.5Ghz. Have 3000Mhz ram installed but running at 2666 with tighter timings.

Have not fully read up on overclocking the 5930k so a basic OC which have tested 14 hours in Aida64 plus have been using my pc quite heavy for the past 14 days with no problems with the OC. (photoshop, handbrake & games)

so the MSI X99A Krait Edition also has no OC socket. and your also getting 4.5Ghz. the none OC socket dont look to be a problem. or its over rated having one.
