hi,

Building a new PC with Asus Crosshair VIII Hero and AMD 5950x for 3D and VFX work (75% 25% gaming).
I'm Looking at recommendations for 4x 32GB = 128GB

Mother board QVL lists this:
128GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3600MHz PC4-28800 CL18 Quad Channel Kit

But I've read that this is better as lower latency?
G.Skill Trident Z Neo 128 GB (4 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 (F4-3600C16Q-128GTZN)
would i notice difference?
Any other recommendation please?

thanks

Kingston is 18-22-22
GSkill 16-22-22
Latency difference will be barely noticeable even in benchmarks, definitely not to human.
Also latency will be a secondary concern. Main question is whether the kit will work at rated speed at all or will you need to drop to 3400 or 3200 speed. And that is down to your CPU memory controller.

consider crucial ballistix, there are 2x32gb kits available, would need to get two of those.

Be interested in this to see how high zen 3 can go with 4 sticks of ram. Still have doubts it will do 3600 but if it manages 3200 then thats decent enough.
I would say there is little to no chance of you getting 128gb @ 3600mhz looking at other systems on here your looking at around 2800mhz.
3800mhz is pretty easy, you can even tune the timings a bit. The amount of completely unsupported (and wrong) sweeping statements made on this forum is crazy.

The Patriot 2 x 32gb 3600mhz kit sold from here is a good balance of price and performance. If you wanted to do a little more work on timings then Crucial Ballistix 3600mhz 32gb dimms would be fine too. Don't feel the need to buy a quad kit, just get 4 sticks the same and you'll be fine.
