5970 power supply

Just wondering with my i7 @ 3.6ghz

If I were to get a 5970 would my 750HX Corsair power supply be enough?

yep, minimum is 650, recomended 750 so youll be fine

Will be fine with a single 5970, the 750HX would probably run two 5970s with your system if everything was at stock (might be pushing it tho).

If the power supply was not quite enough would it cause any damage to the gpu or would a quality psu like one from Corsair switch off and protect the components before that happens?

I bought the HX850 for the 5970, just to have more headroom.

Yeah for an extra £20 I would go with the 850, an overclocked i7 can take a fair few watts so better to be safe than sorry.

Depending how much other stuff you're planning to put in, as Raven said, go for the 850

Them load tests are wrong....(Far to low)

Most likely because the game (Left 4 Dead )they used to test can't push there system to the MAX

The cards were tested under load running Left 4 Dead at a 2560x1600 resolution
