Just got my Sapphire 5970 OC. I already had 2xDell 2405 monitors but as neither of them have displayport, I needed a third monitor with displayport to run eyefinity, so I also spent 500 quid on a DELL 2408WFP. So thats well over a grand JUST for fast games over eyefinity.

Installed the card, got latest drivers. the 5970 has mini displayport but sapphire kindly include a MDP to DP adaptor.

Plugged in the MDP into card and the DP end into monitor and..... nothing.
So I also plugged in one of the other monitors via DVI and get an ATI CC popup error saying

"The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayportTM display. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer"

On top of this, even when I completely unplug the display port and just run the 2 Dell 2405s via DVI, the second monitor is flickering. Ive changed the DVI to run on the Dell 2408 and still it flickers.

Anyone got any ideas? Someone mentioned that the display port may need an active adapter, but if so, why would Sapphire include a passive one in the box with the card?

I'm very frustrated - a lot of money spent and Im going to have to go back to my 34xx series...

ok Im going to try another cable before anything else.

Anyone know where I can get a mini displayport to displayport cable in the uk?

What are all other 5970 eyefinity users using? An adaptor?

Another ridiculous thing with this card. In the box was a leaflet saying I could download a sapphire "tweak" tool from the sapphiretech website espcially written for the 5970. I downloaded it, ran it and it pops up a message saying "Sorry, this tool is not compatible with your card".

So a tool written specifically for the 5970 is not compatible with a 5970. hmmmmm...

Regarding the flickering/blinking, I see many people have these problems with both the 5970 and the 5870. So I guess it must be driver issues, it seems especially with OC'd cards (which mine is as standard). Do I RMA it or wait for them to write better drivers? I paid £580 for this thing - it doesnt seem fair for me to wait a few months to get the thing working....

Just flicking through threads and I really hope you get this sorted. I wouldnt mind seeing some pictures of the setup if and when you do get it up and running properly! £1k is a lot to shell out for silly problems like this :(
