At the start of this year I got a new iPhone 14 pro with an unlimited data allowance and was pleasantly surprised to get good 5G signal indoors. So I now use this for my windows 11 PC. Before this I just had ADSL broadband and speeds would average around 12-14mbps and it seems the upload is capped at 860kbps. So now having the 5G I connect the ADSL router to pc with Ethernet cable, and then iPhone to pc with lightning cable and sometimes this would get speeds upto 280mbps download and between 10-50upload. But sometimes playing games I could get random disconnects. Or the download speeds would be the typical speeds but the upload would be just 860kbps. But if I clicked on both network adapters and bridged them, this seemed to get rid of the problem. But a lot of the time, when you bridge them, it would take a while until it starts working. But strangely if I unbridged them, the speeds would still be high for download and the upload speeds would also be high, but if I booted PC up but didn’t bridge the adapters l, that’s when the upload speed would just be max ADSL. I was looking through the services in task manager, and found ‘Alljoyn’ so start that, and also the windows mobile hotspot, but after about ten minutes the hotspot service would be stopped. But do you only need this if you’re using WiFi? I used to feel sure of this, but if when bridging the two, nothing seems to happen, I’d start the hotspot service and this seems like it will help to bridge the two. But recently saw a video where someone fitted external antennas for their 4G router and their download speeds pretty much doubled. I’m thinking of doing something like this, or can you somehow connect antennas to the iPhone without having to get a router? If the routers aren’t too bad then I do t mind paying for this. But the Vodafone mast I would see is around 1 mile max from me house and I can see it from my window. Could the speeds be improved that much or is the 280mbps? As good as I can get? Also the other reason, sometimes the speeds can just suddenly drop a lot sometimes just for a few seconds, other times about five minutes. I dunno if this could be more people using this mast, or any other reasons, but hoping an external aerial would increase reliability. Can anyone recommend good sites to buy aerials from, or sites that give good advice? Many thanks.
