• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

5ghz stable 4930k Ht-on.

If you dont use Prime as a main reason to use your PC dont use it to test its stability!!

So only a BSOD or forced closure is instability?

Errors could happen which do not cause catastrophoc failures. Those errors are not acceptable.

The only real way of detecting it is by using mathematical tests.

An unstable graphics card for example would give you visual clues such as artifacting. This is perhaps where a ploygon calculation has gone wrong.

How do you do similar tests for non 3d applications? There is only one way at the moment and that is to cruch numbers and to check the output.

Otherwise how do you know your computer is saving files properly? Are copies of files truly identical?

As many people have said, you have an underlying motive for dismissing IBT and Prime95 and so are not impartial.

heres the funny thing, you lot are arguing your points and saying 8-packs wrong, but i dont see any of you guys as a world class overclocker, seriously, anyone who is questioning his knowledge of overclocking, needs to take a step back and just remember that fact

Don't confuse overclocking to the max with building stable systems.

Previous poster raised a valid point and I agree the dissing of the traditional tests is quite deliberate.

We all know Haswell and IVY cannot sustain heavy overclocks if you use the full compute abilities.
That is heavy maths using the AVX instructions

Go check the get out clauses on the OC bundles.

those overclocks are benchmark stable, which in real world terms is stable in general, no 2 setups are the same so there can always be some minor issues with any overclock, also, what get out clauses? ocuk offer a Full 24 Month collect and return warranty on their overclock bundles incase of problems, so yeh....not sure what clauses you mean, im pretty sure a company as popular as ocuk arent gona have 8 pack building and oc'ing systems that arent stable

There is no Industrial Standard Set for Stability for a PC.

So its up to the individual when he builds a PC to run his own Tests for stability and its up to him which ones he use's.

Everybody to there own.

Sorry but with 8packs attitude voiced in public ad infinitum you cant help but come to that conclusion.
