6.5's official ??

Well I'm afraid I'll have to go back to 6.3, as I can't play GRAW even at stock speeds with these new 6.5's. Tried 6.4 too, only 6.3 will play the game without crashing. Obviously ATI have not profiled in any way for GRAW, something in 6.4 and 6.5 just does not agree with the game.

update, 6.5 will only work with GRAW without Crossfire enabled, so that's another issue for ATI to mull over. I think it would be nice if we could take the best bits of each Catalyst and make one complete driver. I have unistalled and re-installed various revisions of Catalysts over the poast 24 hours, I'm fed up and siiting back with 6.3, it seems to work best for me atm.

Does it happen even with the AFR-FriendlyD3D.exe rename ?

Ive got the demo i can test out for you if it helps.

Is it an instant crash, or some time into the game

1) Yes it happens with and without.

2) The menus are fine, playing the game is where the lockups start, then vpu recover steps in, I can ctrl+alt out and stop the game.

I played the Cell Factor demo fine, so it seems with just GRAW atm.

i used to get them VPU errors before i upgraded to the FSP epsilon 700w

But your running the Tagan 900w so it shouldnt be that surely. and its fine on 6.3 so it kind of rules it out anyway

I will do some testing for you later.

They've changed the driver/Crossfire startup timing, y fan ramps for a split second during the windows bars, that never used too happen. I guess they listend to the complaints, though that 2 second garble was hardly a major concern imho.

Just did a quick test on the demo Raja.

It seemed to run ok although it ran like a dog at 1680x1050

only ran it for a few mins each time with AFR-Friendly and Graw.exe

I did find on rage that renaming it to fear.exe gave it a boost with 6.4 so it may help with 6.5

Do you still get that bloody crash screen before the Windows XP logon with these? (if you have a 1800 card only i think)

It's not only for x1800, but for just about every ati-card. Apparently, that is no longer a problem :D

Wow these didn't install well for me, crashed playing any video in winamp and gave me odd corruption during windows loading, back to the omega 6.3s for now.

This is on an X1800XT 512MB.

If these were official, surely they would have been posted on the ATI website by now?

Someone on Guru3D said that the 6.5s weren't going to be released till the end of May.
