6 pin to 2 4 pin connector question

HI There,

My Gpu came with two 6 pin to 2 4 pin connectors, i have two 8 pin to single 4 pin connectors from my psu, do i have to use both 4 pins or can i just use one to power the gpu?

You can use 6 pin or 8 pin or 6+2 ( again becomes 8 pin ) for graphic card power connectors depending on graphic card model, 4 pins and 4+4 connectors are for motherboard connectors to supply extra voltage. Which graphic card do you have ?

This depends on your graphic card power requirement as 75 watts from motherboards pci-x connector and 30 to 60 watts max from single 4 pin molex will give you 105 to 135 watts for your gpu to use but it could melt or burn your single molex connector due to too much current flowing through it. So i would be against using single molex or extension cables such as 2 molex to 6 pin pci-x....

If you dont have proper pci-x power cable coming from your psu then i am beginning to think you have a cheap / bad psu thats not good enough for your system....
