I miss my old keyboard, it was cheap rubbish but I really got on with it's small size when sat typing with it on my lap.

What choices do I have other than the Ducky mini for a 60% mechanical keyboard? I'm a bit of a masher so the stiffer the keys the better, preferably non clicky types.

I was exactly on the same boat as you!
I went for a poker 2 with tactile grey on the alpha and clear on the rest. best feeling keyboard I've had!!

Not quite the same but i've got a KBTRace2 on order, I just wanted the same size but with separate F keys.

I use a KBT Pure at work with black switches.

It's lovely to type on and really handy to be able to have the extra desk room for devices and other stuff, although I do get some stick from the co-workers! (they're all using low-profile Mac keyboards, so what do they know!)

That's awesome, Jim. Did you put it together yourself or is it an off the shelf job?

I'm struggling to find a stockist of these smaller boards, anyone any help without breaking the rules and posting links to competitors?

it's custom. custom case and custom switches

and they are quite hard to find.
drop me a trust message and I'll send you a link to couple of places where you may find some

oh and the numpad is mechanical as well. I got it for £4 instead of £40 odd and it comes with mx browns. bargain of the century

They are on the function layer. less of a stretch when you get used to the layout as well. For games that require a lot of F keys you may want to still with tenkeyless though.

To the OP I own

HHKB
FC660M
FC660C
Poker X
Poker 2

Poker has the lowest build quality although still good. HHKB would be top pick but I love my FC660M and the build quality is amazing.

Might try a poker, if I like it I'll buy some replacement caps for it to tart it up a bit.

Thinking of trying mx blacks, I have reds in my Filco ninja and they're far too light for me IMO. I'd really like to try clears as they seem interesting, but I'm struggling to find any 60% boards with those.

you definitely won't regret it.

and yeah mx clear switches are as rare as unicorn farts. even rarer on 60% boards.
check the website I sent you as it would be your best bet.
if I decide to get rid of mine, I'll let you know

Managed to pick up a cheap Poker, and even though it feels like a toy in comparison to my Filco from a build quality POV, it's actually much nicer to type on.

Not sure what to do now, I think the aluminium trays for these are quite dear and make it an expensive job all in. Pity Filco don't make a small 60% KB like this, I'd have one in a flash.

which switch did you decide to go for?
and yeah I know what you mean about the cases.
once you start modifying them, you never stop haha

Blacks. They aren't as heavy as I expected but I've thrown on some O rings and it's really firmed things up nice, I must say they're pretty awesome.

I'm not sure why but I make way less typing mistakes on this board right from the get-go, maybe it's the years spent with my previous small board but I've had the Filco Ninja for over 4 months now and I still make tons of mistakes whilst touch typing.

yeah I know what you mean.
I'm not a big fan of linear switches but I would definitely pick black over red.
if you can source some heavier springs, you'd be able to modify the switches to get a heavier feel

So, much excitement ensued when I arrived home from work to be greeted by....

I've been after one of these for ages, White LED, MX Reds, Separate F keys etc. Unfortunately, not all is rosy in the garden as when I used a key puller to add some o rings I realised they've sent it with MX Blues!.

I gave it a go and it's not much different to the Ducky with Reds i've been using except for the noise!!!! Would thicker o rings quieten it down? If not, i'll stick it on the MM as I can't be bothered trying to send it back to china.

Such a shame, i've contacted the agent who's looking into it for me, hopefully they'll swap it. Might go for the Keycool 84 if not.
