I'm looking to build a gaming pc with the budget of £600-£700. I have no clue what to put inside. I would like to have I5 processor and GTX 960 The budget is just for the system as I have a few peripherals lying around that will do the job until I get stump up some extra cash. It would also be nice if Windows 10 was included in the budget to but if not I can order it separate. Not looking to water cool either.

Many thanks

Something like this might do the trick, though I would recommend waiting for the new graphics cards coming out in a few weeks. The 1070 will prob be over your budget but may push some older cards prices down and the RX480 might be a really good fit for this system.

the R9 380 is more or less equivalent to the 960, the 380 does perform better for the most part, but at the cost of being hotter, louder and more power hungry. Either way I still think that as frustrating as it can be to wait around, this time next month we'll have a hand full of extra choices on the market and prices on older cards will likely drop across the board. Really this is just a bad month to buy a graphics card.

If you're really desperate you can buy the rest sooner and just live with the intel igpu and slot in the GPU once everything settles down. :)

Couldn't agree more, you'd be able to get 970-980 performance for a simliar price next month

I did look at r9 380 but i haven't a clue with how the amd liine works

Their new RX 480 is coming out in a few weeks and initial statements place its performance between the GTX 970 and 980. Price is $200, in UK it might be anything from £150-200 after VAT etc.

So basically a bad time to buy into older graphics tech for the same amount.

I like Stardock's spec, other than the PSU. Something like the EVGA 500 Bronze is a couple of tiers up in quality over the CX range, with 488W on the 12v rail compared to the CX v2's 408W, and rated for higher ambient temperature. Also, Kingston now have better/faster SSDs out:

And if you wanted to spend a bit more on even higher quality PSU:

Does the cooler come thermal paste pre-applied?
