Looking to build a new i5 gaming pc to replace my ancient core 2 duo.
Not really thinking about overclocking stuff at the moment, i just want a nice stable build that will last and run current games in high settings with a little bit of eye candy. Might upgrade to an ssd in the future and might be persuaded to try overclocking just worried about having to replace parts due to frying them.

I have an old corsair vx450w power supply and dvd drive in my computer at the mo that could be used to save some money possibly? although i like the idea of a modular psu to keep it tidy.

something like this? stupid to run the cpu at stock speed?

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK)
Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black
Kingston HyperX Genesis Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX)

£637 inc vat

Thanks for the help :)

I've already mentioned the Tahitit 7870 to you before. If you don't mind going B grade on the HDD we can double the capacity.

Nice guide there for you to watch on Overclocking. You saw I used the TR Macho in another spec which would allow you to release the potential of the i5K :D Although to be fair even on the stock heatsink you could bump the speed up a little

If you wait two weeks you will be able to go with Haswell and it's new socket 1150 rather than buying into a dead socket. Your Corsair VX450 is a better unit than the CX500.
