Thanks for your reply, looks like there is not much between i5 and i7, however i think I might go for i7 with the GeForce GT 440 1024MB, looks pretty decent and I dont think I need an amazing graphics card for what I do.

Do you have a 64bit OS for the 8GB of RAM?

Also if you use a program that can take advantage of "Cuda" then the more Cuda cores and the faster they run in a GFX card the faster it will be.

The stock supplied Intel heatsink that comes as part of the retail CPU is good for say a 4Ghz± overclock with that Z68 board.

I would also consider the Xeon E3-1230 is basically a Core i7 2600(neither CPU has a fully unlocked multiplier) with a slightly lower clockspeed,no IGP and a lower 80W TDP. However,it costs between £170 to £180. It was also mean you could go with a cheaper motherboard too.

What software are you using??

I would also suggest looking at a card such as FirePro V3900 for around £90 or a FirePro V4900 for around £130,depending on the applications you are using.

Here are some reviews of the V3900:
