Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster. I have a budget of £600 for the CPU, Motherboard, RAM, PSU, SSD and Case. Already have 2 Seagate 500GB SATA Hard Drives so they're un-needed. Will splash out on a 670/660(when released), monitor and peripherals when I get a bit more money (i.e. a job[only 16]).

My proposed build(including powerline)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x MSI Z77A-GD65 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** With FREE GeIL Black Dragon 8GB Kit ** £159.98
1 x Silverstone Raven 3 Full Tower Windowed Case - Black/Gold (SST-RV03B-W USB 3.0) £94.99
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) £85.99
1 x XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £59.99
1 x TP-Link AV200 200Mbps Mini Powerline Starter Kit (TL-PA211KIT) £39.98
Total : £642.43 (includes shipping : £13.75).

All help is appreciated. Thanks for looking :)

What's the cooling like on the 500r? The perks of the Raven are the 90 degree rotation plus window - the fans'll bring air straight into the case and into the cooler (which I like the sound of).

To be perfectly honest I'm not too sure, I'm going by reviews here (and the fact it has a 200mm fan on the side panel, directed at GPU cooling). Cases are mainly personal preference, so if you want the Silverstone, go for it. :)

As has been said earlier cases are very personal...
Corsair, Fractal Design and Silverstone all make good cases. If you like these sorts of styles you could check out the Bitfenix Shinobi as well.

NZXT make some pretty good stuff as well (I personally like their 410 phantom...)

The Arc Midi doesn't really appeal to me. The only other cases that I liked the look of were the Corsair 600T and 650D as they both have great cable management although CPU and GPU temperatures are 4 degrees hotter in the Corsair cases. May not seem like a lot but it makes a difference to me. Sorry for sounding stubborn.

I was in the complete same mind set once hell bent on a raven rv03 but they look cheap and gaudy IMO if you don't mind the looks or are a good case modded go for it it's your money lol. Were just trying to suggest viable cheaper alternatives so you could get a GPU/CPU/SSD upgrade in there.

Spending 1/6th of your budget on a case is madness to most people, I'd take a serious look at the zalman z9 if I were you but if temps really mean that much to you id stick with the raven

My build's kinda in two halfs - the above for £600 and the Monitor, GPU and Peripherals for another £600 for when I get more into gaming which is why I've left the Graphics Card out (I assume the HD 4000 will be sufficient enough to run youtube)

Ah that explains it, yea should be fine for YouTube and browsing no point going OTT on a GPU your gona upgrade soon anyway
