< £600 Gaming build request

Hello all!

I wish for a gaming build with a budget of around £500, this budget is for the tower only and OS is not needed. I would like this build to be fully dedicated to gaming whilst possibly allowing room for upgrades perhaps in a few years time.
This will be my first build so any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Hey thanks for the build! However its abit over my budget, i was looking for something less than £600 (between £500 and £570 maybe?), i also heard that with my budget going with the AMD route would be most beneficial? perhaps a FX6300 would allow me to spend more on a better GPU?

The board won't let you overclock too much, hope thats not a problem. Will cost more money to switch up to a better motherboard.

Can switch the RAM, PSU or HDD to something of lower spec to reduce the price.

Throw a half-decent CPU cooler in there and you could get some reasonable overclocks aswell.

Would this be the best build for an efficient gaming pc with my current budget?
 
Bit too GPU heavy for me in comparison to the CPU, so you're not always going to be getting the most you can out of the GPU, but it's a decent set up, you can't really do any better without a higher budget.
 
The 6300 and that Gigabyte board won't really overclock, a serious limitation with a decent GPU like the 280X.

If you add on £25 for the Asus EVO R2.0, you'd be able to overclock the CPU to 4.5GHz or higher.

Would this balance out the difference between the CPU and GPU, allowing the GPU to be more efficient?
 
You'd have to drop the ASRock board. If you ask Gibbo nicely, he might cut the price on the Asus 970 EVO R2.0 for Black Friday deals.

I am selling mine for dirt cheap, far superior to what your £500 can buy at retail.

Looks good. You'll want to get a CPU cooler as soon as possible though so you can overclock the CPU -- you should be able to get it up to 4GHz on the stock cooler in the meantime.

Any ATX case is fine.
