Hey overclockers, I've never built my own machine before so wondered if you could offer me some advice.

I already have a graphics card (Radeon HD 5870) and an Antec PSU (620W high current gamer).

Other than those two components i'm thinking of getting a new everything else. I have about £600 to max £750 to spend.

my current Harddrive is both noisy and slow as **** and so I was hoping for an SSD for my OS and then a separate HDD for data (maybe two in raid)

also the cooler on my current PC is really noisy so a nice quiet but also powerful cooler would be great. I would like to be able to overclock whatever processor I get (probably an i5?) so it would be good if the cooler would need to be able to cope with that and Ideally still be quiet.

in terms of everything else I really dont know what I need, although I would like everything to be relatively future proof and easily upgradable. For instance I'm probably going to look to do crossfire as the next upgrade after i buy this PC.

What do I need guys??
(also I got a headstart on the case, what do you guys make of this:

Thanks in advance

Edit: forgot to mention: I like vidya gaymes so this will be a gaming PC

p.p.s I already have keyboard mouse, screens, speakers etc so just need PC, however if im coming in under budget then i think its time i got a better gaming mouse.

Is it just the tower unit you want?

Need an OS also?

Apart from the psu+5870, do you have a SATA DVD writer?

nope, HDD and DVD are IDE (this is a friend of mine so ive been pointing him in the right direction)

this is my suggestion. only thing that might be a problem is the cooler, if you want to go over 4.6Ghz

Well my spec was identical to yours, bar,

60 gb M4
1tb drive.
Be quiet cooler at £40
Logitech G400

Everything else was identical.

stulid, if the logitech G500 + free boogie bug mouse mat offer comes back would it be worth going for that over the G400 for £28? (assuming the bundle is still at ~£43 of course)

from my limited knowledge of mice it seems like a great deal, but all i know about the G400 and G500 is that 500 is a bigger number than 400

That's the issue, if it comes back, you know I think logitech mice are all great, the G400 won't disappoint.

now going to bed
