I am running the 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium.

I've downloaded and installed the 64-bit versions of iTunes, NOD32, Diskeeper 2009, my Creative sound card drivers and my Nvidia graphics card drivers.

When I see these processes in Windows Task Manager, some of them have the *32 extension which I assume means that they are 32-bit drivers/processes

I'm new to 64-bit hence my query :)

Yep, all the *'s mean 32 bit process :)

There isnt any realy performance hit for running 32 bit stuff in 64bit windows either :)

Oh I didn't know that.

Could it be that they are 64bit compatible drivers/programs rather than native 64bit programs/drivers?
Yeah could be.

When I had a choice of 32-bit or 64-bit Vista versions to choose from, I went for the latter believing it to be better :o

p.s. looking at the total number of processes in WTM, the majority of them are running in 64-bit mode then if every process that doesn't have a *32 extension is running in 64-bit mode?
