6400 temperatures too high?

Recently I fitted a Core 2 Duo 6400 processer and an Artic cooling Freezer 7 pro into my Lian-li PC7 case. For cooling I have 2 120mm fans running at 7v.

I have been running my 6400 at stock speed with the freezer 7 constantly sitting at around 900-950 rpm.

Using intel's thermal analysis tool I can tell that my processor idles at a temperature of around 46 celsius.

At full load the temperature jumps to around 60 degrees.

Should I be worried about the temperatures in my system? and is it sustainable to run my cooling at very low speeds to reduce noise?

Would I be better with a Tuniq tower at similar low speeds?

A tuniq would be far better from what I've gathered.

My E6300 runs at a toasty 52 degrees idle and on load much more on its stock cooler, it's daunting :(

i had problems with AF Pro ,i used the paste that came on the cooler bad idea, after i used Artic Silver 5 on it, temps are now 38 idle and around 49 load ,jst a thought incase you used what came on it .

The tuniq is far better than the freezer 7 pro(i had one) imo due to the fact there is no proper attaching on the motherboard like the tuniq which has a backing plate for the mobo to screw too much much better, atm my 6300@ 2.8 is idling 33c on the tuniq.

Why is there so many reports of the conroe chips running hot lately?!!

dodgy sensors on boards, problay need fixed with a
bios update

my 6400@ 3.2ghz idel's @ 35 with core temp,
31c with asus probe, full load is about 58 in core temp

this is with a tunig tower fan @ 1200

E6400 @ 2.4Ghz at 35C odd idle, 50ish at load, Ultra-120 /w Amber.

Prob need a bit of lapping, and a re-app of TIM, that should drop me a little lower, when my new mobo comes ill drag out the wet&dry and give the HSF and IHS a good go. Might put a 4pin PWM Arctic Cooling 120mm on it when the come out in the UK, that way i can throttle up nicely when i hit high temps.

Hmm, my 6300's at 29-30c idle at stock with a tuniq. :/ Worried its going to jump up when clocked... What sort of boltage are you chugging through your processor to achieve that clock? Also.. what thermal paste have you used, and have you changed the fan? Thanks!

I have a 6400 installed here since about 6.30 today...

Currently running it at 3.7ghz @ 1.55v 60c load in tat when running orthos :D

For camparison, I watercool my [email protected]. Idle 34C. Full load - about 50C.

Damnit easyrider, everytime I read a post by you, you seem to have a different CPU. By now, you must probably have 1 of each of Intel's latest CPUs?

E4300,6300,6400,6600 and Quad 6700

Thats it...Never touched a 6700,6800 lol :p

Set the arctic freezer 7 rpm higher. Mine is at max ~2700rpm and I don't even notice it.

Hi kisspsycho, firstly welcome to the forums! :)

Those temps u report are about the same that I got from using a AC7-Pro cooler with a e6300 'while' running the fan in quiet mode. If you don't intend to overclock you should be fine, but once you start cranking up the MHz or vCore the cooler doesn't cope very well and you are forced to raise the fan back to full rpms (which I found way to loud!).

See my post for more info:
