640mb vs 320

640MB, no question about it. With newer games featuring textures at increased resolutions, the extra VRAM is a must. A lack of VRAM results in sporadic pauses during game play. 512MB should be minimum nowdays. Even the old Doom 3 engine requires a 512MB card for the ultra quality setting to run smoothly.

I play @ 1600x1200 and the 320MB GTS is more than sufficient. Kinda silly inferring this card isn't for gamers.

I didnt mean it to come across like that, I know the 320 is still an amazing card, but if you can afford the 640, I say go for it.

DX10

What gets me is that toms hardware say that dx10 should be allot more effective at running games with less bottle necking between gpu and memory.

I am not a tech head so read the review on the hd2900xt it seems that maybe cards may not need to be so hungry for max hz and gigs???

What do you guys think...

Yeah its about equal with no AA, but you dont buy top end cards to not to be able to use AA, once AA is applied its a different story. :)

I agree that the performance hit with AA is a bad thing, but i'm sure I heard somewhere that AA isn't as noticable at higher resolutions? Or something along those lines?

Or am I talking rubbish?
