64bit VM

Trying to run a 64bit VM ware but it always says

"Attempted to load a 64-bit application, however this cpu is not compatible with 64-bit mode"

Now its a Q9550 which is running W7 64bit, so i know its telling me the wrong thing, but it obviously cannot detect its 64 bit, anyone know how/if i can correct this?

PC: Q9550, Asus P5Q Deluxe
Software Tried: Virtual PC and now Virtual Box

good stuff. and don't waste your time trying virtual pc. it doesn't support 64bit guests.

yea realised that! doh.. lol

seems everytime i get the setup to load, i enter the key (or dont) and it says "setup needs to be restarted" or something similar at the bottom of the setup window... tried rebooting and everything! GRRR

What guest OS are you trying to put on the VM ?

...or are you talking about the setup for Virtualbox ?

Im running W7 and using Virtual Box to run server 2008 x64.

The setup loads, i click install, it asks for key, if i put it in it just says "setup needs to be restarted", if i don't put a key in and continue it just crashes and says couldn't find "d:\sources\install.wim"

I've run 2008 R2 in that setup fine. What installation source are you using? A disc or iso?
