Another Spec me thread, sorry!

I currently have a Samsung 48 inch LED TV, around 8 years old.

I have gone into the whole OLED vs QLED and I am still undecided. I feel a QLED would be best suited as the TV is on during the day (background noise, for both me while I work and the dog). The TV is also in a well lit room. We have recently had an extension so the back of the house is largely bi-fold doors and windows.

I am looking at a 65’ inch screen due to the new size room. Not sure if I am best holding out until Black Friday, however, I have been looking at both:

LG OLED65B9 (currently £1,800) or Samsung QE65Q70R (£1,300)

The TV will be used for SKY (manly HD channels), Netflix, YouTube and Plex media streaming. I do not own a games console.

I also have a Samsung HWMS650 All In One Sound Bar (not sure if that will influence any suggestions)

Is there any other recommendations, brands, makes or technology I should consider?

The B9 is the better TV by far.

I'd only get QLED if you are scared about burn in, if you display static content on ur screen a lot or your room is VERY bright and you have problems with reflections. I very frequently play music from my TV and leave the player on out of laziness so an OLED would be a bit of a pain for example.

B9 yep
I have the 65 and its a great telly.
Apps are fast and i do like Lg's OS and application system.
Cant comment on the sound from it as its never made a squeak as by default all my audio is fed through the surround system.

That's absurd.
Why? Just buy a damn audio streamer. Why waste electric. And risk screen burn.

That's like leaving monster truck idling to listen to the radio.

Sonos or squeezebox even any android box will do

Thats the issue, i would say BBC is on for most of the day (background noise, and for the dog). I guess burn in would not be an issue albeit the TV is on for long periods of time. As above per my original post. The TV is also in a very well lit room.

I like having the music art visible at parties so people can easily switch song whenever they want. I mean why do we have music interfaces at all in programs?

I would advise against OLED in this case. Not only is there the risk of burn-in from the usage itself but also keep in mind that the organic nature of it makes it vulnerable to sunlight! Yes, that's right, SUNLIGHT! There's been people who've had imprints of CDs burnt into their OLEDs from reflected sunlight. So if you want to use an OLED in a bright room you'd also have to consider that and maybe buy it a cover.

Lastly, some of the Samsung TVs have stellar anti-reflective coating and get MUCH brighter than OLEDs for SDR content (where OLEDs can't keep up at all due to auto-brightness limiter). In fact OLED brightness is a JOKE with a Q80R hitting >350% the brightness of the best OLED at 100%. Anyone recommending you an OLED in this situation is doing you a massive diservice.

For the anti-reflective filter you have to look at the Q80R or Q90R though. Here's the difference for Q70R vs Q80R.

Squeezebox touch has that. Or put a front end interface on a android box or touch screen LCD or use tablet to control android box, or use tablet to play music.

Totally absurd.
