660ti Overclocking Queries

I bought myself an Asus 660ti to replace my 570.
Problem I'm having is that the 660ti's are not strong overclockers in comparison to the 5xx series. Also the process is slightly different and so I have a few questions:

1.) What is the Power Target? My understanding is that increasing it allows for a higher power output tolerance for the boost feature.

2.) How exactly does the boost feature work?

3.) What is "FB Usage"?

4.) I'm currently OC'd at: +110 boost, +392 Memory, @+113mV & 123% Power. This improves my Heaven score from 1588 to 1712. Is this an acceptable overclock or should I be expecting more? (The asus model is apparently considered one of the better models due to the 4 digital vrms)

Any answers would be great, Thanks

Personally i think that is a good O/C, the heaven score (depending what AA is used etc) is quite good as well for a single card.

To get a few more points if you want, you could potentially O/C your i5 to about 4.5/4.6, this will help by gaining a few more points if you so wished.

But IMO its a good GPU and good O/C

Heaven is: Everything at High with moderate tessellation, 4xAA & 8xAF.

Can't push my CPU higher than 4.4 in my experience. Think its a combination of chip quality any motherboard (P67A-UD3-B3).

Its a shame I can't push the memory further than +8%, my 570 had a decent +25-30% :/

Yeah I flashed the new Bios released by Asus.

I'm really looking for the correct technique here so I can chip up my speeds bit-by-bit using the right methodology, so any suggestions will be great.

That overclock on the core is good but it would be better if your memory would go higher.

My memory goes to 7100mhz and my friends asus go's to 6900mhz.

I upgraded because I like my PC silent, everything was silent with my 570 installed (twin turbo 2 cooler), but during games the PSU fan would make a little noise from the wattage needed for the 570. So I used that as an excuse to upload to the more efficient 660ti.

wow 7100, any chance you could question your friend about his technique please?

When i had my i5 2500k i ran it @4.2Ghz 27/4. When i did benching etc, i used to run the CPU @ 4.5Ghz, that extra 300Mhz did score me some extra points in heaven etc.

As for methodology in O/Cing use the same program, this helps to set benchmarks for yourself, you can also see if the O/C is working or not, in your case you are using Heaven, so i would stay with that program.

As you have all ready stated, bit by bit is the only way to access how far you can push your GPU/CPU. Obviously if you have BSODs or graphics artifacts whilst running heaven, then you may have pushed your hardware a little too much.

Yeah I got the General principle ReAPeR101 :)

When overclocking the 570 I would increase core and memory until I got crashes, then upped the voltage, repeat. But with this 660ti there is the Power Limit and Boost elements I'm not 100% sure with, thats whats causing me problems, I'm not quite sure when I should take these into account.
