£666 ram anyone?

Nice ad hominem to most of the people who posted here including myself.

If you think spending £666.00 on RAM is normal then I would suggest you are either trolling or like wasting your money.

Almost everyone gets by just fine spending £50-£100 on RAM, so obviously when we see RAM costing £666.00, it raises a few eyebrows. Has nothing to do with being an 'idiot'.

If the £666 kit was the only option, i might be more inclined to agree...however.
2400mhz 4x4gb is only £179. That's £30 more than the cheapest 16gb 2400mhz DDR3, hardly raises any eyebrows.

£666.00 for RAM raises my eyebrows. What floats your boat is entirely your opinion. I feel most people would, like me, feel that spending that much on RAM was out of the question.

Way to miss the point, buddy ;)

Also, on another note. When has it been alright to tell people they've spent their money poorly? That's down to the people buying. All well and good saying 'herp derp, £xxx is too much' but if you're not planning on buying, who cares? And as i showed, cheaper options avaliable.

I'm not going to sit here arguing with you when my point is self evidently correct. Most people will not pay £666.00 for RAM. End of.

Stand up then? Lol
Most people, is not ALL people. By that very statment even you admit there is a market for such a product. So why the fuss?

I agree, most people would opt for the cheaper ram kits, hence why there's more kits under £666 than above  Infact, currently on OCUK's shop, total of 6 kits, 5 are priced lower than this magical number.

See. There are DDR3 kits equal in price. It's not about spending money it's about winging about it. DDR4 prices aren't actually that high, you're looking premium kits. Your point isn't correct at all as you don't have one. Not really anyway. Memory prices will be slightly inflated on pre order alone before even factoring in inflation. The more plantations there are making DDR4 the less there are making DDR3. It's been this way since forever and honestly the prices of the slower kits isn't anywhere near as bad as ddr3 pricing at launch time.

If you think it's expensive nobody is making you buy it. Not sure why you're so keen to moan about money if you've no intention in buying it.

Hence my generalisation of folk at platform launches.

Big Enthusiasts, people who want the absolute maximum performance/best kit will certainly buy it just as people buy the 295, titans and so on. It'll definitely sell but not to your average gamer/enthusiast unless they are loaded

Lol, I remember 2x1gb GeIL kits costing £240 . . . . I bought a second set when they were on offer at £160

Anyway, that looks more like a placeholder price than an actual solid price.

no, its a we are the first in Europe so it you want them we are going to kick you in the nuts price :D

on a different topic, what will be the base speed for ddr4?
1333 is dead now and 1600 is the base for ddr3, what ddr4 going to be? or should i say what will be budget ddr4's speed

The price is reasonable given the tech, I remember a 12gb kit of corsair DDR3 was £800 on release.

Do note prices will be dropping very sharply during the next 3-9 months, they will be close to current DDR3 pricing.

Also 16GB DIMMS due Q1 2015, obviously at a premium.

If this Ram made me a cup of tea in the morning and then went out and did my job for 12 hours a day I would happily pay the price.

Joking apart that is a shocking price, but if you are stupid enough to pay it then good luck.

All due respect you bothered buying into a custom built PC and paid less, but also got lax slow Vengeance modules instead.

Being stupid doesn't come into it, If someone buys premium memory kits it's because they want the best and or appreciate the technology behind it. This is overclockers after all.

Just because you've only gone the half hog and bought slow RAM doesn't make other enthusiasts stupid. :) the whole PC scene is 'stupid' if that's your attitude :)
