This 670 is driving me insane! Just launched WoW sat in Stormwind at 60 FPS everything is obviously smooth and anything 40+ is usually playable however as soon as it dips below 60 FPS I'm getting small but loads of screen tearing I'm on 304.79 drivers.

I really want to return this card and get a 7970 but I doubt Overclockers will accept it.

Maybe you have adaptive vsync switched on in either global profile or wow profile? sounds like it when it drops below 60 fps vsync is disengaged and tearing would become noticeable.

I think there's a new driver called the "open all hours. Arkwright edition" that will stop your stuttering

I'm sure even if they won't accept a return on your 670, you could sell it for around the £300 mark which is enough for a 7970 now :)

Keep pressing for a return, they might let you if you swap for a similar priced 7970 like the wind force.

Perhaps :), if not i'll have to stick with my 670, in one way it's good sorts some problems out however the 670 is much more powerful on bf3 than a 7970.

If only 7970 performed as it should in BF3 I think I would have been tempted to swap out my 480.

I don't think there is a big difference in performance in bf3 between a 670 and a 7970 with a modest over clock :)

Have a look at the anandtech GPU Bench, a 7970 GHz edition (1050 MHz core speed) against 670. I would link it but I'm on my phone :(

The 7970 wins in

Crysis
Metro
Dirt 3
Shogun 2
Civilization 5

roughly = performance is

Batman AC

670 wins in

BF3
Skyrim
Starcraft
Portal 2

As you can see the 7970 is the card if you play any of the games it wins on and vice versa.
Looking at the the game list, it's no wonder why the GTX670 is more popular than the supposingly faster in spec 7970...

There's nothing wrong with your 670 then. In your other 2000 threads I think the conclusion was the same.

The grass is always greener....
+1

You didn't have plain sailing with your 6950 either, you did a lot of moaning about that too.
:)

Nvidia/AMD can't enable gpu usage at 100% with their gpu's, it's the game coders that's at fault there, the coders need(or not because they still sell their games) to do a better job in certain titles.

In saying that, I don't have a clue how much it would cost devs to implement this into titles, as in fairness compatibility issues must be an absolute nightmare for them.

For your problem though, get AfterBurner and cap your fps anywhere between 57-59fps, play about with the capping and see if it helps you out.
