i have been having a debate with a few 5820k owners on this forum regarding this matter, id like to hear from people who own the 6700k on what there take is on this touchy subject, personally i think core v core the 6700k with its new advanced architecture is far more superior than a 6 core 5820k, the proof is in the pudding with the benchmarks iv been looking at... but lets see what you 6700k owners have to say on the matter.

I'm not sure this needs another topic, but it would be interesting to hear the contrasting viewpoints.

In my opinion I think it's fair to say that both have their place in the market, but the 6700K should ideally not be so expensive. Historically the top mainstream CPU (2600k, 2700K, 3770K, 4770K, 4970K) has not had the price premium that the 6700k seems to demand.

Although the 6700K is the newer architecture, it's evolutionary rather than revolutionary, just as everything since Sandy Bridge has been.

spot on the money there zola, nice build btw!

Thanks :). I've been very pleased with it. Unfortunately my Z68 board died a death at the beginning of the year, and 4790K was the best option at the time. I've been watching the Z170 / X99 debate as outsider but with interest, as I'd have had the same decision to make had my Sandy build lasted slightly longer.
