Games i play - CS GO

My monitor 1440p 144hz Acer thingy,

will be buying 290x CF or 295x2

What cpu is the best for gaming, i upgrade on a yearly basis, i bought the EVGA G2 850W would this one be enough to push this setup thanks

Purely for gaming then the 6700k is the best. Clocks faster but the 5820k can easily match it with a good overclock. If you dont plan to overclock get the 6700k. For anything multi-task wise aswell get the 5820k. With either you wouldnt see a massive difference from your 4690k if at all especially if you have it clocked to 4.9ghz 24/7. You wont reach that with a 5820k or 6700k so it may be better to stick with your current 4690k.

You say you will be getting 290x/cf or 295x2. Your sig says you have a 980. Why not get another 980? faster and uses less power than both the 290x in crossfire and 295x2.

Unless you make videos, are an avid streamer, I'd just stick with your 4690k.

If you really want to upgrade, and I see you are aware on how to overclock, I'd get the 5820k. You can clock one up to 4.4GHz usually, higher if you get a better than average chip.. At which point there's not much difference between the two and I'd much rather get 2 cores & 4 threads over 300-500MHz more core.

Going by your sig, why not just drop a 4790k into your existing board. The hyperthreading can help in some games with sli/xfire. Clocking wise, 4.7 is pretty much the norm on a 4790k which in speed matches a 4.5ghz 6700k.

The 5820k will make better use of the SLI / Crossfire as it provides more PCIe lanes but real world you'll see very little difference between what you've got now and what you're upgrading to.

You won't really notice the benefit from either if you only play csgo. Maybe you could invest in a 1440p 144hz panel instead? Just a suggestion :)

What is the point in upgrading? For you it would be a waste of money. Why not just add a extra GTX 980? Going to R9 290x or R9 295x2 is going to be a downgrade.

Yeah I agree with everyone else - there's nothing to be gained here by a CPU upgrade unless you have the money to burn. You will notice absolutely nothing so it is totally pointless unless you just want something new to play with but it won't keep you going for long.

As above, a second GTX 980 is going to make more of a difference than a CPU upgrade anyway.

Got a Freesync 1440p 144hz monitor =\, would stick team green otherwise! Don't know if Freesync is all that though? might just stay 980

If you do decide to go swap your 980 with an AMD would a Fury not be the better option?
Freesync will be pretty pointless for you playing CS:GO as any of those cards should be hitting 144+ fps.

You will see NO upgrade at all if you're only playing cs:go

Literally throwing your money away, and if that's the case you can buy me a 6700k.

buy another 980 or get a 4k monitor or go on holiday, or buy me a new cpu ;)
