Hey guys.
So a few weeks ago i got a 680 Power Edition and was running all my games great at max, BF3, Tomb Raider (w/o the hair effects) Alan Wake and a few others.

Past few days ive noticed about a 10fps drop in all these games, tomb raider never dropped below 60fps in this one area and on my second playthrough it kept going to 50

BF3 has been dropping to 40-45 in certain moments.

And Alan Wake had taken 10-20 fps drops in times past few days.

I've done nothing differently than what i normally do so i'm not sure what's going on, my rigs in my specs.

MAny thanks.

Drops down from 60fps to 40 - 45fps are nothing to worry about tbh, that's why people aim for 60fps average, so that when you do get drops it doesn't go below 30 which would be noticeable. I wouldn't worry to much if your average is 60fps. A lot of games will drop below occasionally during intense action, like things exploding in BF3.

Also if you haven't already, update to the lastest Beta driver, that gives a nice lil performance boost.

Yea i'll give it an update tonight, it's just odd, i noticed ina specific area in tomb raider with everything on besides tressfx and that that tesselation was fine then just started eating my frame rate so i turned it off and its fine.

BF3 is odd it doesnt always drop that low but soemtimes it does. and it always seems to be specfiic areas, if a lot of people are around too or like strike at karkand near the train if i look into the city or if im in it and all the buildings are blown i shoot down to 45 to 40 sometimes.

I dropped below 40 on hitman absolution in the beginning mission for a little section, and i havent tried crysis 2 yet.

Overclocked? Stability issue potentially if so (maybe notch it back a bit). Otherwise see if driver update fixes the issue.

Yeah BF3 can drop, my average fps is around 100fps+ @ ultra, so the GPU is more than powerful enough but very occasionally I notice drops down to about 30fps - 40fps, that's using 3960X and 4770K. Only noticeable if you got a fps counter on screen. Tbh I think this could be CPU related, or maybe even taking data from the drive? something not quite optimized..

I think better CPU's in the future will eliminate any drops or stutter from games like BF3. Quite a CPU intensive game, same with Crysis 3.

Nah, i'm not a huge fan of overclocking.
My CPU fan isnt the best, at the most on the most cpu intesive games i reach 80c but even then i've been putting the fans up and keeping them between 70-75 under loads.

My graphics card is cool as can be though, has a nice cooling system to it and the case stays around 29c all the time inside.

i run the i7 2600 but it isnt the K version so it's 3.4mhz

Is the card boosting as high as it was before? Updated drivers? I would run afterburn/evga precision to see what clocks your getting in game.
