I just noticed my Geforce 6800 GT (agp ) is idling at 90c and ambient is @ 59c.

This is massive comapared to what it used to be, it used to be at 60c idle.. could it be dust or something?

Could be dust or possibly that the heatsink has shifted slightly meaning a poorer connection with the GPU. Another possibility is that the temperature sensors are wrong but I'd doubt it.

The heatsink on my old 6800NU was full of dust as I was renovating my house at the time, at load it would go up to 103C

So take out the card and check for dust.

Cheers, yeah Im gonna pop out the card and give it a good cleaning with some air duster areosol I got from ******s. It might need it, as Im pretty sure the sensors are fine, I'll post back later with any resuls.

MY GOD LOL UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I just opened my case and saw that the fan on the zalamn was not moving!!

It was not connected properly to the psu, my god i cant belive this thing didnt die!!

Im gonna post some pictures later to show you just how damn good these zalman coolers are, absolutely shocked I am. It justsat there at a contsant 90c, I felt the heatsink after I turnedof the pc and it was hot. Zalman you are class you saved my 6800GT.

Good to know that the Zalman can run passive

Reminds me of a time I forgot to turn on my waterpump and was surprised the CPU temp was 70C after a couple of minutes :o

Lol cant get over it, it could have been like that for days for all I know.

Anyway everythings sweet again now, its @ 54c idle and 33c ambient and thats using the zalmans quite fan setting.. class. :D

Out of interest, how loud is it when set to it's loudest setting?

Can't be any louder than my Gainward 6800GT GS. :o

Sorry for taking ages to reply mate, its not loud at all in my opinion and less noise than the stock cooler. Some info for you...

Silent mode: (5v) 1,350rpm Noise - 18.5 db.
Normal mode: (12v) 2,650rpm Noise - 28,5 db.

Well it saved my ass I can tell yer, reccomended to anyone.
