6800 overclock

what overclocks do other people get out of their 6800s?

I ran my 6800 Ultra for over a year @ 475mhz / 1250mhz with tighter memory timings :) 3dmark 05 was around 6700 not bad for a 2 year old card.

ok I think I'm going to keep the core at 420 and wack the memory up as high as poss. how do I use ati tool to test the settings? can someone provide a dl ?

ok I got ati tool loaded, I set everything at default and pressed find max memory clock, it started rising etc then I think it got an atrifact yellow thing appeared, and the mem clock started crashing to near zero, so I pressed abort, the worrying thing was it got an artifact at nothing like the frequencys I normally run it at, whats happened,
at the moment its fining max core will post details later

Ive had my LE unlocked to 12 pipes and 6 shaders, and running stable at 400mhz core and 900mhz mem. that was on standard cooling, with an accellero X1 it runs the same, but never goes over 55 degrees on full load from company of heroes.

Ive flashed the BIOS to run at 100% fan speed and 1.4v.

I have mine at 375/875 on a daily basis, have done for over a year.....Lovely jubbly!

want to go PCI-E, but im really attached to this card lol

10750 in 3DM'03 with a barton 2500+ @ 3200 canne be bad :D :D

When using the ati tool, I find that you have to watch manually for artifacts, rather than let it detect. Kill it when you spot the first artifact, take it back 10MHz or so, the run 06 to be sure, watching all the same. Do this also with the memory, and you'll be fine.

ok thanks at the moment I've got the core at 420 and the mem at 898 ran Cs for ~an hour and bf1942 for 3 hours with no crashes or artifacts., I may put the memory up to 1ghz what do you lot think?

ok I may buy a new fan for it but to be honest I cba... can I watch for sparklies in game cuz 3d mark is boring,

If I overdo the memory and it all goes to the /******ers how do I fix it?

If you see sparkies and you stop the activity (Game, benchmark, whatever) then you won't break it. Once its borked, its borked though.

ok I put it up to 900 on the memory and I think I got sparklies
de_dust0000.jpg

I put the mem down a bit and got a pink floor, so I'm going to have to decrease it back to 880
would an aftermarket cooler help or not?

I've just got rid of one 6800le and sods law a mate at work then said he was getting rid of a gfx card and would I want it, turned out to be an Asus V9999 GeForce 6800 Gamer Edition which unlocks to 16/6 :) I'm using it in a shuttle so clock's aren't mega but I whacked it into my brothers old system XP3200+ with a decent sparkle psu and the Asus hit 455/1.2 ghz sweet ! now I just need to find a heftier psu for my shuttle and it's play time. hmmm wonder what it'd do on water :p

*edit* oh yeh it set me back £50  zoink

I think I have found my highest settings for my card, kinda disapointing tho. as some people have 1ghz on memory at stock

I went into ati tool and saw that it showed my memory clock at lower than I had set it in coolbits. so I wacked it up and scanned for artis, no artis for like 5 mins temperature at 61, so I thought right lets give it a go, hit set clock, total death to screen, pandamonium I looked and say that the clock that it was showing was exactly half of the one I had set in coolbitz, why is this, anyway its all right now held the power button down and reset it all.

Becasue ATI reads the SDR speed of the memory - where as coolbits might read the DDR. DDR = 2 x SDR

edit: don't be disappointed on the mem speeds - a lot of what other ppl are talking about are either 6800 GT / Ultra / GS / XT which are higher clocked to start with. For a nu / le you have a cracking card! :)

i have a leadtech 6800ls. cracking card for the price.

I also have unlocked to 12pipes and been running it that way for around a year, the only game i have ever got any artifacts on is X2 and only on the intro movie.
